Saturday 1st May 2021 saw 8 participants and two instructors up at Alconbury on the disused ex-USAF runway to practice their slow speed skills.

Bob Stewart and Kevin Hudson had put together a great first training session, which included; a gated figure of eight, ‘U’ Turns within a 22 feet wide lane, from rolling as well as from standstill on full lock, a slalom with decreasing distance between the cones, and a slow speed race to see who could go the slowest (well done Garry).

The training was a lot of fun, and everyone took part intending to have fun, whilst brushing-up on much needed, but seldom practiced skills.

The group initially met up at Haddon Services, and split into two groups of less than 6 to keep within the government guidelines. Once up at Alconbury, the group split between those who felt confident in their abilities and just wanted to practice and others, less confident in their slow speed skills. Bob took the latter group through the basics in order to graduate through exercises of increasing difficulty in order to rebuild their confidence at walking pace and slower.

These sessions are open to all PECAM members and associates running on the first Saturday of each month until October 2021.
