Advanced Rider Course
We deliver the Advanced Rider Course as a 1-2-1 taught programme with a qualified IAM Observer. You will have an initial meeting and briefing, where the Observer will get to know you and your riding goals then you will go on an initial assessment ride.
Following the debrief the Observer will provide you with a written report and discuss with you your training programme. The number of Observed rides you need to achieve the IAM RoadSmart test standard varies with every rider, but no matter how many it takes your Observer will safely steer you in the right direction.
When your Observer and you decide that you are ready for your IAM Test, then we will arrange a pre-test ride with a PECAM National Observer to fine tune your skills.
We ask that Associates ride at least 150 miles between observed rides, in order to practice the Advanced riding techniques.
Your Observer is a volunteer and does not get expenses or payment from PECAM or the IAM, so we politely request you contribute £10 per ride towards their petrol costs.
Fellow Advanced Rider Course
If you join under the Fellowship programme, then you will follow the same path as the standard Advanced Rider Course. The difference being that every three years you are offered a reassessment and pre-test ride with a PECAM National Observer, on request, in order to maintain your Advanced riding qualification.
Masters
If you want to achieve the highest civilian level of riding why not enrol on the Masters programme. We offer all the training, mentoring and support to help you achieve your Masters qualification.
National Observer
We offer full 1-2-1 training and Local Observer examinations within the group for those of you who wish to give something back to the motorcycling community and pass on your skills and knowledge to new associates.
PECAM offer a mentoring programme to coach advanced riders to become National Observers, and once at that point you will complete the National Observer Test with an IAM appointed examiner.
Your Observer is a volunteer and does not get expenses or payment from PECAM or the IAM, so we politely request you contribute £10 per ride towards their petrol costs.
