Sunday 22nd February was Carl Lewin’s first ride lead for PECAM, Carl had planned a route, loosely based on a ride labelled as “50 Rasen Shine” from the A-Z Britain for Bikers book.

With a change to our usual start point, 18 bikes descended upon McDonalds at Bourne, for Carl’s briefing, those that had Bikecrumbs app installed were invited to join the ride via the code set by Carl.

With caffeine having been consumed, David Lewenden taking on TEC duties and with the sun shining (as promised by David L) we headed out of Bourne and on to the days adventure.

We were soon onto some lovely countryside twisty’s through the Lincolnshire Villages, some of the road surfaces were as expected, the usual gravel, potholes and mud, nothing that we could not handle, before we then headed out towards Woodhall Spa and on toward Horncastle, taking some of the picturesque villages and through the Lincolnshire Wolds, avoiding the temptation to stop at Willingham Woods, preferring to head to our destination of Seven Districts Coffee Stop, just outside the Village of Welton.

The Seven Districts Coffee Stop, was a great find, offering a variety of choices of food and exceptionally good coffee, roasted on site.

We decided to continue to enjoy the sun, so sat outside, to enjoy the delicious food, whilst the coffee stop was very busy, the staff were fantastic and we were all soon satisfied and ready of the off, heading back to Bourne McDonalds.

The route back was a shorter route, but still a most enjoyable ride, finding some horses along the way, plenty of overtaking opportunities and long sweeping roads.

A very enjoyable ride, certainly blew the cobwebs away, great to be out on the bike on the first really dry sunny Sunday this year.

A big thanks to Carl for his planning and executing of the ride and to David L for looking after us at the rear, fantastic lights on his bike, made being able to see the TEC (as well as the pink vest) much better in the low sun.

As always thanks to everyone for turning out and for your company.
