The May social evening was a summer evening ride out, the first of the evening rides this year. It was organised for Wednesday 20th, rather than the usual Tuesday, due to the chosen destination having later opening times on Wednesday through Saturday each week.
We met at the usual gathering point, on the Patio at Peterborough Services (Haddon), for the briefing at 6:45pm. As there were only 7 of us, we decided to use the Intelligent Buddy System to allow us a fun flowing ride and not needing to mark every junction for the following riders.

The pace was nicely progressive as we made our way on the 45 mile or so route north and west from Peterborough along the great local bike friendly roads and through some really beautiful villages. We skirted the Rutland reservoir along its southern edge at Normanton, and bypassed Stamford to the North. We made our way to Carlby, double back towards Stamford on the main Bourne Road, then cut left through to Greatford and Uffington. A little wiggle through Stamford to the Motorcycle parking by the River.
The Riverside Fish and Chip restaurant were very efficient and friendly and we soon had our evening meals. They really are excellent fish and chips there. We were joined on the balcony by Becky and Angie, the better halves of two of the group riders.
Good evening with a very nice short ride, and great company.
