On our recent social evening run, eight members of the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire Advanced Motorcyclists (PECAM) set out from Haddon Services for a planned route down to Barney’s Plaice in Huntingdon. Led by Bob Armstrong, the ride traded the standard dual-carriageway transit via the A1 for a far more engaging and scenic backroad route.
Bob navigated the group west toward Oundle, taking advantage of the region’s sweeping asphalt and open countryside. From Oundle, the route looped back through Old Weston and down through the tree-lined stretches of Abbots Ripton. The varied terrain gave everyone a great opportunity to put core advanced riding principles into practice, with smooth cornering and progressive lines throughout. The drop-off system ran seamlessly, bolstered by Ian covering the Tail End Charlie (TEC) position at the rear of the pack to keep the group intact and well-managed from start to finish.
Upon arriving in Huntingdon, the group collected dinner from Barney’s Plaice and headed down to the banks of the River Great Ouse. Enjoying fish and chips overlooking Godmanchester provided a great setting for socialising after an excellent run.
