What do you get when you combine 13 riders, one pillion, some of Norfolk’s finest roads and a café that knows how to feed hungry motorcyclists? Another cracking PECAM ride out!
Our latest social ride saw the group leave Apple Green Services on the A16 before winding our way through the Lincolnshire countryside towards Sutton. Progress was briefly slowed by what felt like every speed limit known to mankind, followed by a short hop along the A17 and through King’s Lynn.
Once into Norfolk, however, the smiles really started. The highlight was undoubtedly the superb B1145, where around 20 miles of flowing bends, open countryside and beautifully surfaced roads reminded everyone why Norfolk is such a favourite destination for motorcyclists. The outward journey covered around 68 miles and was worth every one of them.

Our destination was Byford’s at Holt, who coped brilliantly with a sizeable group descending on them. The food received plenty of compliments, and nobody left hungry—a sure sign of a successful café stop!
After a well-earned break, the return journey took a different 72-mile route, sticking almost exclusively to quiet back roads before the unavoidable stretch along the A47. The day rounded off at Bunny’s Diner in Sutton, where riders relaxed over tea, coffee and the occasional rather impressive milkshake while discussing favourite roads, favourite corners and, naturally, where we should head next.
A big thank you goes to Kevin H for planning and leading another excellent route, and to Carl L for carrying out TEC duties and ensuring everyone arrived safely.
If this sounds like your kind of day, why not come along? PECAM runs social ride outs on the second and fourth Sunday of every month throughout the year, together with a third Tuesday evening ride during the summer. They’re open to all advanced qualified riders, along with associates whose Observer has given them the nod to join us.
