PECAM Sunday Social Ride, blog by Tim Helstrip.

27th April 2025

The latest Sunday Social Ride was led by Bob Armstrong to the ever-popular Danish Camp centre just out-side of the charming village of Greta Burford, Bedfordshire https://danishcamp.co.uk/.

Eleven full PECAM members met at the usual start point at Haddon Extra Services, just off the A1 for a 9:15am briefing.  The weather looked very promising and at that time was already 14 deg C, and the haze was lifting promisingly.

After the usual admin of completing to ride log in sheet with the riders next of kin details (just-in-case), and the briefing we set off with Darren H wearing the Pink TEC vest, to ensure the drop-off system worked smoothly.

Heading North and West we made our way in a wide circle along familiar roads, through Warmington to the B660 and headed South.  Making use of some excellent less familiar roads, some of which had ‘GS’ standard of road surface, ensured that the sports bike rider had even more ‘fun’, we made our way through very pretty villages to our destination.

A very pleasant short break sitting by the river, having a cuppa and whatever food was desired, the group reassembled for the ride back.  A slightly different route took us via Grafham Water, where half the group peeled off to make more direct routes to their respective homes, while the rest of us continued back to the final destination at Starbucks at Orton Centre.

Many thanks to Bob A for organising and leading and to Darren H for TEC duties.  An excellent ride making use of the best weather of the year so far.
