Sunday 13 th April saw the first of April’s scheduled two social ride outs.

PECAM offers social rides on the 2 nd and 4 th Sunday of every month throughout the year.

Now we are in British Summer Time (BST) the official meeting time has moved back to 9:30am.

This Sunday we met at the usual starting point at Haddon Services, just off the A1, at
9:15am for the briefing, for a scheduled start time of 9:30am.

After the briefing we set off to Wymondham Windmill, one of the PECAM members’
favourite destinations. Sitting on crest of a hill looking out over the Rutland countryside,
this 200 year old windmill has an excellent café and ample seating both inside and out.

From Haddon we took the scenic route to the south of the Rutland reservoir, and bypassing
Stamford the north, we made our way on B and unnamed roads via Corby Glen to the highly
enjoyable Bitchfield Bends.

From the outskirts of Grantham we made our way over the A1 at Colsterworth and headed towards Melton, before turning off for Wymondham.

The service at the Windmill was excellent as usual, and we all enjoyed various combinations
of a late breakfast. The banter was pretty lively as we put the world to rights before
heading back.

The route back was slightly shorter and covered the excellent roads to, and through Teigh to
Ashwell, Oakham, Uppingham to Caldecot.

We were variously either impressed or appalled when we were overtaken by a Jaguar F-Type R like we were standing still.

We made our way from Caldecot to and through Harringworth, going under the Viaduct twice, and on to
Weldon to join the A427 to Oundle. Skirting the town we went through Fotheringhay and
finished the ride at the N013 Café in Wansford to a farewell cuppa and chat.

We were very lucky with the weather, and had a mix of bright sunshine and cloud, but no
rain.

Thanks to the guys for their company and Bob S for his TEC duties.
