Five bikes met at the Stibbington Truckstop Cafe, after a short brief, we decided that the intelligent buddy system was the easiest way to ride, with this size group.
We left the truckstop to venture through Wansford, Kingscliffe and Collyweston, onto Ketton.
Heading through the picturesque villages of Barrowden, Seaton and Lyddington, when it started to rain slightly, but thankfully did not come to much, we proceeded through Gretton and Harringworth, up the hill to Laxton, then through a small road, which was a bit gravelly and grassy in the middle, due to it being a single track and infrequently used, then on to Bulwick.
Heading through more attractive villages of Kingscliffe and Apethorpe and onto Elton.
On existing Elton, I thought that I would take the group through a little traveled lane (its says gated road, however it is not!), we had to be careful riding this lane as there were potholes, loose gravel and grassy areas, as well as large tarmac splits!
Everyone got through ok and it exits, surprisingly, straight on the North Bound A1, a short run to the Sibson Inn Hotel finished the ride.
Other PECAM Members joined us at The Sibson Inn, with food and drink whilst participating in a general knowledge quiz.
I was worried I may have made it too hard, however, everyone seemed to enjoy it, with the usual light hearted heckling over answers, it does seem to get the competitive juices going!!
Overall there was a tie in the winning scores between Mike and Maureen Arkley and Kevin Hudson and Dee Hyland.
Congratulations to them and the other participants.
Now then “when was the wearing of front seat belts mandatory in cars?” and “When were front number plates prohibited on new registered bikes”?
