Sunday 28th December was the last official, Sunday Social ride out for 2025 and David Lewendon’s inaugural ride lead.

With everyone ready for a change of scenery following the Christmas Festivities, 15 PECAM members, including a special guest of Santa (aka our Chief Observer – Bob Stewart) joined David, for a full briefing at our usual meeting place of the patio at Haddon Services, with the second man drop off system in place and a reminder of how to safely mark junctions, we saddled up for the days adventure.

David’s ride promised a route out of Cambridgeshire into Lincolnshire, riding past some of our finest properties, heading towards Bottesford in Leicestershire, with a destination of Margo and Plum Coffee House for breakfast.

The ride was everything and more promised, the weather was better than expected for the time of year, with views of many of the stately homes in the area and through the fabulous countryside along the way.

Margo and Plum was a new destination for PECAM and what a great breakfast stop it was too! With a varied full of options of hot food and some fantastic cakes on offer.

We had an unexpected addition to the group, when Kerry Barnes, joined us for breakfast, as he only lived a few miles away.

After one of the group, mended the toilet at Margo and Plum (what goes on, on a ride out, stays on a ride out!), we set off for a the final leg and onto Esquires Coffee Shop in Weldon, another new coffee stop for PECAM.

For a first ride lead, David’s was an excellent one, with fantastic new roads and destinations, most enjoyable, I for one look forward to the next installation David has for us.

Big thanks to Santa for volunteering for TEC duties, although he would not wear the pink vest, as it would have clashed with the red suit!

Thanks as always to David for the time and effort put into organising and leading the ride and for everyone else for their company.
