Meeting as usual at the Peterborough Haddon Services on the A1 at 9:15, the group who had opted for the shorter ride for various reasons had a chat about their bikes and other odds and ends as well as a thorough ride brief and then got underway at 9:30am.  The route went south 1 junction on the A1 and through Folksworth to access the country roads towards Oundle. This was the alternative option offered to PECAM members who could not make the excellent longer ride option to the Humber bridge (written about in the previous blog post).

Great Roads Great Group

There was a great mix of excellent machinery, with 3 Ducatis, a Triumph Tiger, a BMW S1000RR and a cracking new Enfield Interceptor, still being run-in. The Ducatis included a smart Monster, the ever capable Multistrada and fabulous 996. The sun wasn’t exactly shining, but it was dry and the road conditions were excellent as the group made its way through the very nice Biker friendly twisty roads in a loop south and then back north, across the A605 and then on to the A6116 for a short stint to the picturesque village of Brigstock. The group of 6 advanced riders all kept up a very good pace through the wide variety of roads they encountered.

The Bake and Brew

The Bake and Brew had reserved us tables in the Courtyard and with special permission allowed us to park the bikes there as well.  The tea, coffee and various savoury and sweet snacks were very high quality, and the staff made us feel very welcome.

…and home

After the break we headed down through Benefield onto the A427, and had a little play on the short stretch between Lower and Upper Benefield and then through the villages back to Haddon.
