Sunday 24th April, saw 16 Bikers and One Pillion set off to a new destination, The Bike Stop in Stevenage, the weather, whilst chilly at the start, looked very favourable.

Following on from the obligatory safety briefing at Haddon Services, by Kevin Hudson, Ride Leader and Bob Stewart, TEC (in fetching Hi-Vis Pink!) we all set off on our adventure to new and unexplored road.

As there was 16 Bikes, the drop off system was used to aid with marking junctions along the way https://pecam.org.uk/second-man-drop-off-system/

Kevin Hudson had planned a route of 72miles taking us through some lovely, picturesque villages, with a variety of roads with opportunities for some to get their knee down! The weather Gods looked down on us as it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.

There was one hic-up when seven of the bikes, missed a marked turn, the Breakaway 7 decided the best thing was to make our way there and join up with the rest of the group.

The Bike Stop, Stevenage was an excellent destination, although busy, the staff served us with a smile, and nothing was any trouble, there was a variety of drinks, cakes and sandwiches on offer.

The Owner of the shop was very friendly and explained the current offers in store, including a discount on a Dainese Air Vest, PECAM was the first group he offered it too, there was also a 15% discount on some items (not all stock) for PECAM/IAM groups.

A few of the group made their own way home from The Bike Stop and the rest of us made tracks for the ride home, the route was a shorter ride, 42miles of wonderful country roads, with an unexpected stop off, for a well needed cold drink at The White Swan, Covington.

From here we all made our own way home, it was a fabulous day, excellent roads, great refreshment destinations and wonderful company!

Thank you for Kevin Hudson and Bob Stewart and thanks also to Brian Wingrove and Dave Coombs for getting the Breakaway 7 to the destination.
