7 bikes and 8 members (1 pillion) left a grey Haddon services on a new route to a fairly frequented destination of ours – The Cafe Ventoux, Tugby in Leicsterhire. Previous routes to get there have been challenging for some as some of the roads can loosely be called roads! (I love them!) So this time to give a generally more pleasing experience for all, a different route was formulated that had more reliable tarmac. We did come across a few slippery patches lurking under tree lined sections and the odd bit of tractor debris but other than that there were no dramas and the group moved swiftly to the destination. The intelligent drop off system was adopted and it transpired that not many markers were required as we moved as quite a compact group. Brian was TEC with his blazing Denalli lights making his presence known. After an hour and ten minutes we arrived in bright sunshine that we had enjoyed for half of the ride. The next bonus was that the place was basically empty so we could order breakfast immediately. Service was very friendly and food good.

The return

I confessed to the group that I had not checked the route back and so I was a bit nervous that we might find a good few GS roads that only Bob, Brian and I would enjoy but I had no need to worry. The roads were decent, empty and good fun, so again we enjoyed a good ride bike to the end of the ride at Elton. David M, new associate enjoyed his first outing with us and David W gave his new to him, BMW RS a stretch. My only regret was that the ride wasn’t long enough so I will be looking to do a longer version in the not too distant future.
