Our Remembrance Sunday ride was well attended with 10 riders starting out from Haddon services in Peterborough.
Craig McLean was to lead a ride around parts of Northamptonshire and Rutland, stopping off at Two Flags Café at Morcott.
Following on from the briefing and Jimmy Duff volunteering for TEC duties, the riders set off into a damp foggy morning with any signs of the forecast sunshine looking as dodgy as the ride leaders BMW satnav!
The planned first stage destination stop was the war memorial at Kings Cliffe to observe the two minutes silence at 11:00am. However, the poor weather slowed progress and we opted to stop off at the Willow and Brook car park in Apethorpe and walk to the WW1 War Memorial.

There was a small gathering in attendance, and we witnessed the laying of poppy wreaths, words of remembrance and a young bugler who played the last post followed by a 2-minute silence.
With time for reflection and remembrance honoured we headed, with dodgy satnav, to the Two Flags Café on the A47 at Morcott.

This is a popular biker’s destination, and the café quickly processed our orders with quiet efficiency. An abundance of full English breakfasts and bacon Baps were quickly delivered to our table putting warm smiles of approval on everyone’s faces (some more than others!).

Rested, we headed on the return leg towards Gretton with the intention to ride on to Cotterstock and finish in Wansford, but unfortunately, the road to Gretton was closed off by the police following a two-car collision.
An ad hoc alternative route was quickly found and an enjoyable ride back to Wansford continued.
Overall, an eventful busy ride, on a day of reflection and remembrance spent in good company, with tasty food and pleasant roads.
