Despite the weather promising to be cold, wet and windy, eight hardy PECAM members met at Haddon Services, ready for the days adventure.

Fueled up on hot chocolate following a chilly start, the ride was expertly led by Bob Armstrong along with a very special guest, taking a break from his busy activities of getting ready for Christmas Eve, Santa joined the ride out!

Heading south to avoid the rain and the winds, which by and large we managed to avoid, the route took us through chocolate box villages, beautifully decorated for Christmas, including Oxford Cluny, Paxton and Little Barford, with some lovely twisty roads, onto our destination of The Orchard Tea Rooms at Moggerhanger, just outside Bedford.

On arrival, The Orchard Tea Rooms was, unfortunately closed, much to the disappointment of some members stomachs (and bladders!)

However, Bob A pulled it out of the bag, with a short hop to The Danish Camp, a Norwegian log cabin, surrounded by woodlands on the bank of the River Ouse, and home to the great horned Owl, the largest in Europe – or so Bob tells us!

After a much needed pit stop, we headed back to Peterborough, via Buckden, on some more fantastic roads.

From Peterborough we all headed off on our own Merry Christmas way.
