Sunday 10th September was the first of this month’s Social Ride Outs, Kevin Hudson had planned a route of around 65 miles with a new destination stop for PECAM of The Fisherman’s Rest at Westwood Lakes near Boston, with a return route of 58 miles ending at Applegreen Services, Spalding.
With the promise of new roads, a new destination, and a rather warm day, thirteen bikes and one pillion arrived at Haddon Services for a chat, followed by a briefing by Kev.

Heading off into the warm sunshine, with Andy Golding volunteering for his first stint at TEC with support from Martin Jones, we set off for the days adventure.
Kev never fails to deliver! A fabulous route, with lots of interesting Fen roads I have never ridden before with many of them right on my own doorstep which I never knew about, so thank you Kev for opening my eyes to what is around me!
We had a short pit stop at Kev and Dee’s home for a water and wee stop (the temperature was very warm, so a water stop was very welcome!).

The Fisherman’s Rest was a great find, many of the group enjoyed the different breakfast options on the menu, whilst the home cooked ham baguette was also delicious!

With the temperatures rising, we headed back out for our second leg of the day, a further 58 miles, taking in some more fabulous Fen roads, a couple of the group, peeled off along the way to head home, with the rest of us ending at our second destination stop of the Applegreen Services in Spalding.
We had hoped for air conditioning at Applegreen Services, but unfortunately it was not working, although inside was a bit cooler than sitting outside.
Watching the dark clouds coming in and what looked like an impending storm, those of us that were left, decided to make a quick exit in the hope of missing the storm.
Whilst Bill and I were fortunate to live five minutes from Applegreen Services, so missed the rainstorm, some of the others had much further to go and so got caught in the storm, the curse of the three Garys!
It was great to see Kev and Dee on Dee’s new toy, fingers crossed Dee will soon be riding it herself rather than being pillion.

A big thanks to Kevin Hudson, as per usual, a fantastic ride out with a gem of a destination.
Thanks to Kev and Dee for their hospitality on route.
Thank you also to Andy Golding for looking after us as TEC and to everyone for their Company, a blast as always!
