Initial weather forecasts were not looking favourable for the Remembrance Sunday Ride Out, however, the decision was made by Kevin Hudson, Ride Lead for the morning to meet at Haddon and continue with the morning’s plans.

Ten PECAM Members, with one pillion met at Haddon Services for the ride briefing.

The plan for the morning was for a stop off for the two minutes silence and then head off for breakfast stop at Bohemia at Alconbury, so two shorter rides with a longer route back to a destination, as yet unknown.

We set off on the first leg of the route, whilst cold, the weather was improving, the mist was clearing and the road conditions were not too bad, our first stop was Oundle and the War Memorial for the two minutes silence.

The War Memorial at Oundle is in grateful memory of the Men of Oundle and Ashton who gave their lives in The Great War 1914-1919, Oundle had organised a parade to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, we paid our respects at 11am for all those that lost their lives.

The second leg of the Morning took us on to our breakfast stop at Bohemia, whilst we had to wait a few minutes for a table, as Bohemia was very busy, the warmth of the Café was very welcome.

The breakfast menu was still on offer and with a wide range of options to choose from, everyone was suitably satisfied with the food and drink.

Warmed up and ready for our third leg of the day to our final destination, we set off from Bohemia, the weather had brightened up and although still chilly, the temperature had improved slightly.

Kev took us on a route around familiar and not so familiar roads with a final stop at Boxwood Café, Oundle.

A few of us stopped for coffee and cake, whilst some made their way home from Boxwood Café.

Despite the uncertainty of the ride going ahead due to the earlier weather, it was a very enjoyable day, a big thank you to Kevin H for sorting out the route and for excellent destination stops and as I was on TEC duties, I cant thank myself, but I would like to thank everyone for their excellent riding and for executing the drop off system smoothly.
