This month’s Slow Speed and Gymkhana session was held on Saturday 5th April at our usual place of Westpoint in Peterborough, a safe space to practice vital slow speed skills and have a go at the Gymkhana course.

With the sun shining, it was a fabulous turn out, with 20 PECAM Members attended, including some new Associates and new faces, to take advantage of the coaching on offer and to practice the skills with guidance from the Training Team.

The slow speed course is set up, in line with the required competencies in the Advanced Rider Course Handbook.

  • Riding at walking pace, under control – Riding at walking pace, speeding up and slowing down to walking pace
  • Bringing your machine to a controlled stop – left foot down – Bringing your machine to a controlled stop – right foot down
  • Perform a U-turn in the width of the road
  • Pull away with lock applied
  • Complete a single slalom course through cones

The Gymkhana was also on offer, with some attendees taking up the challenge with the assistance of Mark and Bob A, using the PECAM bike.
