This month’s Slow Speed and Gymkhana session was held on Saturday 3rd
August.

There was a great turn out with 22 PECAM Members attending, despite the promise
of showers, to try out the skills on offer from the Training Team.

The session saw the riders progress through the five basic exercises, the
Skills exercises on offer develop over time, and will be able to be used to
extend a rider’s ability beyond whatever they thought was possible when they
started.

The most basic exercise was riding your bike in a straight line at a slow
walking pace, through U-Turns and basic figure-8’s to a slow speed slalom, on a
layout that goes from relaxed to difficult. From these basic skills, then the
riders, should they choose to, can move on to the more advanced riding skills
used in Gymkhana style configurations.

Once again, the PECAM bike was on hand for all to practice either the slow
speed skills or the gymkhana.

The Gymkhana proved to be very popular with eight members taking up the challenge
with the assistance of Mark and Bob A.

Jennifer had some one to one training from Craig whilst Steve Pearce and David
Williams, two of our National Observers offered their assistance with the
coaching, which the training team were very grateful for.

We encourage all PECAM Members to take advantage of the training, it is
another part of what is on offer to all the Group, if there is one thing that
you are struggling with the Training Team will be more than happy to give you,
some one to one training and advice to help you.

Overall, the session was very well received, and it was very satisfying to
see how any people listen to the advice, apply it and make big improvements.

As always, the morning including refreshments supplied by Bob S.

A big thank you to the PECAM members for attending and making it such a
success and thank you to the Training Team as well as Steve and David for their
assistance on the Morning.

Session.
