This month’s Slow Speed and Gymkhana session was held on Saturday 6th April, once again, there was a great turn out including some first-time attendees, to try out the skills on offer from the PECAM Training Team.

This session saw the riders progress through the five basic exercises, the Skills exercises on offer develop over time, and will be able to be used to extend a rider’s ability beyond whatever they thought was possible when they started.

The most basic exercise was riding your bike in a straight line at a slow walking pace, through U-Turns and basic figure-8’s to a slow speed slalom, on a layout that goes from relaxed to difficult. From these basic skills, then the riders, should they choose to, can move on to the more advanced riding skills used in Gymkhana style configurations.

There was also an opportunity to practice brake and swerve exercise.

Once again, the PECAM bike was on hand for all to practice either the slow speed skills or the gymkhana.

Whilst the training is offered to all PECAM Members including Associates on the first Saturday of each month and all are encouraged to take advantage of the free training (where else can you get training and guidance for free?) the site is also available to any Observer with an Associate, on any other Saturday, between 10am and 2.00pm.

If any Observer is interested in taking advantage of training area, please drop Bob Stewart a message via Slack with the names and registration numbers, so that Bob can inform West Point of attendance.

Look out for details for the next slow speed training, we encourage all PECAM Members to take advantage of the training, it is another part of what is on offer to all the Group, if there is one thing that you are struggling with the Training Team will be more than happy to give you, some, one to one training and advice to help you.

Overall, the session was very well received, and it was very satisfying to see how any people listen to the advice, apply it, and make big improvements.

Thanks to everyone who attended and to those Coaches for their time and patience.

And of course to Bob and his coffee and biscuit wagon!
