Sunday 11th June was Philip Wadlow’s maiden Lead Ride for PECAM, meeting at Haddon Services for usual briefing at 9.15am to leave at 9.30am.
Phil had planned a 52-mile route to a new destination for a Sunday Ride, The Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne with a return journey of around 50 miles, with the ride ending at Two Flags Café, Morcott
The weather forecasts promised that Sunday was going to be a very warm day and it looked like it was keeping its promised, when at 9am it was already around 18 degrees and glorious sunshine.
What an amazing turn out! I lost count at 25 bikes, two of which had pillions, great to see so many Members out on such a warm day.
Following the briefing we headed out of Haddon Services towards Oundle and onwards to the glorious rolling countryside of Northamptonshire.
It was a joy to ride some different roads and enjoy the scenery.
The second man drop off system worked extremely well with so many bikes, with us all arriving at the destination to enjoy what The Boat Inn had to offer.
The Staff did a wonderful job of taking the food and drink orders, with so many of us and its was no time before we all received our food. Those who ordered the full breakfasts were suitably impressed, with others enjoying breakfast baps.
Homemade Ice cream was also on offer and of course, was a must on such a hot day.
The Boat Inn was an excellent new destination for PECAM, definitely worth a return visit, especially if you have time to enjoy a boat trip too, sadly we did not have time today.
The return journey Phil had planned was around 50 miles with a destination stop of Two Flags at Morcott, we rode part of the route we had this morning, before heading to Morcott and some more familiar roads.
Some of the group dropped off along the way, to make their way home, leaving a few to enjoy a refreshing cold drink at Two Flags, before making our way home.
