Although April 9th was Easter Sunday, there was an excellent turn out for the first of April’s social ride outs, with fourteen bikes and one pillion meeting up, on a bright but chilly morning.

We welcomed some new faces on the mornings ride out, one member having transferred from another area and a potential new member and his pillion.

Tim Helstrip was to lead the ride with myself donning the pink vest for TEC duties.

Following on from the briefing on what to expect of the mornings ride and a reminder of how the drop off system works along with a briefing on how to safely mark the junctions, using your own initiative as to where the safest place would be to mark the junction, so as not to endanger yourself and confuse other road users, as well as being visible to other group members.

Tim had planned a route of around 68miles to take us to The Mountain Restaurant, Melton Mowbray, a favourite destination for breakfasts and delicious cakes!

With the group fully briefed, we headed off on what was to be a cracking ride out, on some fabulous roads, which I have not ridden on for some time and had forgotten how good they were, included in the route was one of my favourites, the Bitchfield bends, always a joy to ride these!

We are so lucky to have such beautiful scenery and villages around our area and some lovely twisty roads to enjoy along the way.

Following our stop at The Mountain Restaurant, fully fed and watered, we headed off for the final leg of today’s ride, with an equally enjoyable ride, ending with a stop off at Deenthorpe Airfield to check out the potential new site for our Monthly Skills Training Sessions, before making our way home.

Thank you, Tim, for a very enjoyable ride out and for giving me the opportunity to be TEC, which I really enjoyed.

The group rode at a good pace, keeping together, it was wonderful to see all the group riding in front of me, to see all the bikes paced out ahead was a sight to see.
