On a chilly, but sunny, February Saturday Morning, ten PECAM Members took advantage of the free training session held at Alconbury Airfield.
These sessions are a monthly event and are available to all PECAM Members and Associates.
The most basic exercise was riding your bike in a straight line at a slow walking pace, through U-Turns and basic figure-8’s to a slow speed slalom, on a layout that goes from relaxed to difficult.

From these basic skills, then the riders, should they choose to, can move on to the more advanced riding skills used in Gymkhana style configurations
Although advanced Gymkhana can look quite daunting, the methodology, that we use for all of our training, takes the skills development in baby steps.
Even simple Gymkhana layouts can be confusing, but after just a short time the participants really got into the flow of the exercises. Gymkhana is conducted ‘at pace’ and takes a lot of concentration, so bike fitness is key to enjoying yourself.

On offer for the Gymkhana is the PECAM motorbike, so those wishing to try the gymkhana but are worried about dropping their own bike, they can practice on the PECAM bike without having to worry about any damage.
It is a very relaxed morning, giving you the opportunity to practice any or all of the exercises on offer.
This really is an opportunity that PECAM Members should take up, free training with the members who run the training, giving their time and expertise to assist with any skills that you would like to develop.

Whist the exercises are set out, there is plenty of room to practice any skills that you wish to develop on the airfield.
With free tea and coffee thrown in! Thanks to Bob S!

Thank you to Mark, Bob A and Craig for all your time and patience on the morning.
Look forward to the next one in March.
