A week later than usual, owing to the extreme temperatures last week, Tuesday 26th July was the date for this year’s annual fish n chip run to The Boundary, Market Deeping.

What a turn out! Seventeen bikes and two pillions arrived at Haddon Services for the ride briefing by Tim Helstrip, with Barry Wroe volunteering to carry out tail end duties.

Tim welcomed some new faces and explained the second man drop off system to those that had not ridden in the group before.

Tim had arranged earlier in the day with The Boundary, for us to arrive between 8.15-8.30pm to enjoy fish and chips and refreshments, so we set off at 7.15pm sharp to ensure that we arrived on time.

The ride was to be a 40 fun filled miles, starting from Haddon, we took a route through Wansford, Ketton, through Great Casterton and lots of villages including Belmesthorpe.

The roads were fabulous, the sun challenging at times, but some lovely flowing, sweeping bends, the group, although a large group, kept together and rode at a progressive pace.

An unexpected road closure delayed our ride and we arrived in Market Deeping too late for fish and chips.

It was the first time of doing the fish and chip run that we did not actually have fish and chips!

Most of the group headed off to find food, whilst nine of us enjoyed the hospitality of The Stage and Tim treated us to coffees and soft drinks.

After a chat and our drinks (as well as watching some of the Ladies Euro semi-final match on the big screen) we headed off home.

A very enjoyable ride, even without the fish and chips!
