Sunday 26th June Ride Out – Blog by Dave Coombs

Six of us left Peterborough for a rideout to Danish Camp in lovely warm and sunny weather. Kev, BobB, BobA, Nigel, Gary and me (I hope that’s right and includes everyone!) and me made our way through all sorts of lanes, tracks and roads – including a GS-Lane (grass in the middle for 200 or 300 yards!) I thought we were going to ride through a farmyard (again!).

Bullock Road, Bit of B660, a dive out into lanes through Coppingford and Spaldwick  to Kimbolton. Then over the A1 to civilisation (St Neots, very briefly thank goodness) and off into the lanes again through some very nice villages ending up at Danish Camp.

Kev did a very good job of modifying Martin’s route and taking out the 30mph bits.

Breakfasts and cake served up – masses of bacon.

Mind you Kev’s negotiation skills supplied brekkie – Yes, Guv, we WERE queuing before 11am (honest!).

As for the “Del Boy” bloke – I have no idea what went on there or how he ended up sitting on Kev’s bike. Anyone like to fill me in?

The return trip also avoided as many 30mph limits as possible. There are some lovely lanes from Danish Camp up towards Papworth. From there we made our way via St Ives and Broughton, Woodwalton to Slilton, where a cold and very welcome pint of Lemonade and Lime was consumed in The Talbot.

By golly did that go down a treat. Thank you Kev.

I use some of these roads on my everyday commute but its a real pleasure to ride them rather than drive over them.

This stopping somewhere for a glass of something refreshing is becoming a tradition – a good one too.

Again, Thank you Kev for a very good modification to Martins route. The Roads and lanes were an excellent mix.

There was even a short stretch of GS- Lane as well. No drama, no “events” just a good ride with excellent company.

Why “Top Box Fairy”?  Well — what goes on a rideout, stays on a rideout
