On Sunday the 10th April I had the pleasure of leading one of our twice a month group ride outs. I was joined by 11 other bikes at our usual meeting point at Haddon services for our Pre ride briefing. Craig McLean kindly volunteered to be my TEC and donned the ‘Hot Pink’ HiVis vest (we have started using these as it is easier to distinguish the TEC from other road users).
We set off at 9.30am and headed north passing through Wansford, Ufford, Deeping Gate, Crowland and stopping for coffee/ breakfast at Fenland Airfield at around 10.30. There was plenty of air traffic to look at, with one of our cohort commenting ‘’it’s busier than Heathrow here!’’ I always find the onsite restaurant, Runways very good, with very friendly staff and fast service.

Once fed and watered we headed north east towards Holbeach and up to Holbeach St Mathews to then loop round back towards Moulton Chapel, Spalding and finally to Crowland where we completed the ride without incident at lunchtime.

The PECAM Group rides are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, see Slack for specific details.
