Advanced Rider Skills Day 2021
June 20 @ 09:00 - 16:00 BST
The Advanced Rider Skills day (ASD) has been developed over many years at PECAM, in order to offer a fantastic, comprehensive, day of advanced tuition in a very safe environment.
June 20th 2021 will be no exception. We will once again convene at the Alconbury Weald Commercial centre, and hire the old Alconbury USAF runway. This provides the ideal grippy surface for practicing on with a motorcycle. In addition, the runway offers a wide and very long expanse of smooth, damage free, tarmac which enables us to run several exercises simultaneously, if we so wish.
The ASD covers a wide range of skills. Typically starting with how to safely pick-up a dropped motorcycle, no it’s all right we don’t ask you to lay your precious metal on the ground-we will have a willing volunteer’s bike, through to high speed runs on the runway to see what your bikes limits might be.
This progression from static to virtually flying will pass through riding your bike at walking pace, slow riding in groups, through cones and in complex patterns. We then move on to practicing counter-steering, braking on bends, and braking technique development at all speeds up to and beyond the legal speed limit.
At the end of the day we see just how fast you can go!
All of the exercises are carried in small groups, with oversight and management by highly experienced PECAM members.
PECAM heavily subsidises this event however, there is a small contribution required from participants. In 2020 we charged just £20 for the day’s tuition, although it does vary but we have never charged more than £30.
We really look forward to seeing you there!
