This month’s Slow Speed and Gymkhana session was held on Saturday 2nd November, at our usual place of Westpoint in Peterborough, a safe space to practice vital slow speed skills and have a go at the Gymkhana course.
Despite the weather not being the best, as it was very damp, there was a great turn out with 17 PECAM Members attending, to practice the skills on offer from the Training Team.
The slow speed course is set up, in line with the required competencies in the Advanced Rider Course Handbook.
- Riding at walking pace, under control – Riding at walking pace, speeding up and slowing down to walking pace
- Bringing your machine to a controlled stop – left foot down – Bringing your machine to a controlled stop – right foot down
- Perform a U-turn in the width of the road
- Pull away with lock applied
- Complete a single slalom course through cones
The Gymkhana proved to be very popular with some members taking up the challenge with the assistance of Mark and Bob A, using the PECAM bike.
We encourage all PECAM Members to take advantage of the training, it is another part of what is on offer to all the Group, if there is one thing that you are struggling with the Training Team will be more than happy to give you, some one to one training and advice to help you.
Overall, the session was very well received, one or two attendees took advantage of some one to one coaching and it was very satisfying to see how any people listen to the advice, apply it and make big improvements.
As always, the morning including refreshments supplied by Bob S.
A big thank you to the PECAM members for attending and making it such a success and thank you to the Training Team for their assistance on the Morning.
