Sunday 27th October was the first of the Winter ride outs and Craig McLean had organised a gentle ride around the Rutland and Leicestershire countryside to The Buttercups Tearoom, Billesdon.

With the sun in the sky, fourteen PECAM members, including four of our Lady members met up at our usual meeting place of Haddon Services for the ride briefing from Craig.

With two associates attending the ride, a full briefing on the second man drop off system was given and a reminder to all members of how to safely mark junctions.

With the recent weather and the potential for mud and leaves on the roads, we all set off on today’s adventure, expecting the route to be interesting and a test of our advanced training.

Well, what can I say, what a fantastic day it was, fabulous route through familiar roads out through Woodnewton and Blatherwick and then out to Rockingham and West Langton before heading along the B6047 on to our destination.

Buttercups Tearoom never fails to deliver, the service was very quick, and the food was delicious.

Suitably fed and watered, we then set off for the final leg of the day, enjoying some more of our picturesque villages through Whissendale, Cottismore, Collyweston and on to our destination of Wansford and Café 13, some made their way home but eight of us stayed for coffee and cake.

What a fantastic day, with the sun shining, dry roads which were fabulous to ride, far better than expected, although, not so sure about the U-turn!

Proves how important attending the Slow Speed Skills Training is and how lucky we are, as a Group to have this training included in our Membership, everyone should take advantage of the coaching on offer.

A big thank you to Craig for his time in planning and leading the ride, thank you also to Bob S for his TEC duties and as always thank you to everyone for their Company, see you all on Saturday at Slow Speed Training!
