The second Sunday social ride out was organised and lead by Martin Jones, the destination was the Silver Apple Farm Shop in Buckminster with an end destination of the Boxwood Café, Oundle.
Meeting place for 9.15am was our usual spot at Haddon Services, where fifteen bikes and two pillions joined Martin for the briefing, before heading off for the mornings leg of the ride.
Following the ride safety briefing and a reminder of the second man drop off system, the group left Haddon Services for the days ride.
Whilst, unfortunately, I was unable to join the first part of the ride out I understood it to be very enjoyable, with an unexpected Ford thrown in!
On arriving at the Silver Apple, as there was so many in the group, there was a wait for food orders, with many ordering breakfast and breakfast baps, but the food, it was reported, was worth the wait.
I joined the group for the final leg of the journey of around an hour and a half, on to the Boxwood Café, Oundle.
Leaving Buckminster we headed on to the country roads towards Corby Glen and the Bitchfield Bends (these are my favourite bends!) which would have been far more enjoyable had parts of them not recently been re-surfaced and still covered with loose gravel!
Heading towards our final coffee stop, there was some confusion at a roundabout and a few of the group ended up following two of the riders who had actually left the ride, which meant that there was a group ending up at The Granary at Willowbrook Farm and a group ending up at the Boxwood Café.
Despite this, it was a very enjoyable ride, thank you to Martin Jones for leading and organising and to Andy Golding for his TEC pink vest duties.
The weather and road conditions were perfect for the ride out, with excellent choices for refreshment stops.
Thanks to everyone for their Company.
