This was the second of May’s Sunday Ride Outs, Bob Stewart had been given a route by Ron to a destination of Café Ventoux, Tugby, the starting point was The Sugar Mill, Bourne rather than the usual Haddon Services.
The Weather was not looking too promising, the forecast was for heavy rain and thunderstorms later in the day, but despite this, ten bikes, (one with a pillion) including an Observer and his Associate, joined Bob at the meeting point for a 9.15am ride briefing.
Following a slight delay in setting off, we headed out, with me Volunteering to don the pink vest for TEC duties, using the Second Man Drop Off System.
The first leg of the route took us over towards Peterborough and onto Kings Cliffe and Wakerley, before heading out into the Leicestershire Countryside, here we were met with some heavy showers along the way and some very muddy roads and a ford, before finding our destination of Café Ventoux.
As always, the Café was busy, but luckily Bob had reserved us a table and we were very quickly served food and drink, the fish finger sandwiches caused food envy!
Three of the Group left us at Café Ventoux, leaving the remaining members to enjoy the second part of the route, we adopted the Intelligent Buddy System.
With the sun now shining we headed out for the return leg of the journey, which was to take us to The Motorcycle Works at Werrington, where a BBQ was taking place. Pete Odell is a friend of PECAM and has, in the past, generously supported us with the use of his van for the ASD Skills Days previously held at Alconbury.
We reached The Motorcycle Works just in time, as the heavens opened again, we managed to get shelter inside The Motorcycle Works.
Thank you to Bob S for the ride out and thank you to everyone for their Company, as always!
