The image at the top of this post is from Steve, a Pharmabike volunteer. This is a screenshot of a short video he took during his delivery round.
This is phase 3 of the PECAM designed and led Pharmabike volunteer initiative, which has rolled on into 2021, to support local Pharmacies with secure and fully supported deliveries during the 3rd national lock-down. Pharmabike was created in response to the first national lock-down in March 2020, with Phase 2 supporting pharmacies during the November and December lock-down. With the 2nd and 3rd lock-downs coinciding with the vaccination roll-out, it was even more important for patients to stay at home as the pharmacies were at full capacity with delivering the all important injections.
Pharmabike processes and procedures have all been developed in line with the latest pharmacy safety protocols and every rider has backup and support from at least one other rider. The operating manual is available to any recognized Advanced Riding group, so they can deliver the service in their areas.
To date Pharmabike volunteer riders have delivered 1,000’s of prescriptions in all weathers.
